Marissa Mayer 2015

Hey, Marissa Mayer: Welcome to the esteemed twin mama club!

Yes, the Yahoo CEO and her hubby Zachary Bogue, who are already parents to one son, have announced that they are now expecting identical twin daughters due in December, according to an announcement she made on the Yahoo Tumblr.

"The twins part was quite a surprise, because I have no family history of twins or any other predisposing factors," she wrote. "However, as I've now learned, identical twins occur by random chance in roughly 1 out of approximately every 300 pregnancies. Zack and I have embraced the surprise and are very excited about these new additions to our family."

In the post, she also made clear that she planned to work throughout this pregnancy, just as she did during her first pregnancy when she was first hired to helm Yahoo back in 2012. Back then, she famously—infamously, actually—took just two weeks' maternity leave. And, just after she banned employees from working from home, she installed a nursery right next to her own office. Cue the dubious raised eyebrows.

At a time when big tech companies like Netflix are rolling out serious parental leave benefits, I wonder if Mayer will model a different kind of work-life balance this time around? At this point, it doesn't seem so, considering that her post said her plan is to approach the pregnancy and delivery the same way she did the first time, "taking limited time away and working throughout."

As a fellow multiples mom, I'm not sure my typical advice for friends expecting twins really applies here. For instance, Mayer probably won't need to clip Amazon Mom coupons and buy in bulk to save those pennies. Nevertheless, to the Mayer-Bogue family: Big congratulations are in order… times two!
