A Texas mom is now reaching viral meme status, after posting a comment on the Facebook event page for the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. See, the museum is hosting a party for the highly anticipated solar eclipse on August 21, only that date doesn't jive with the busy mama's schedule.
"Most kids go back to school that day," the woman wrote. "Can it be done on the weekend?"
Oh, this poor lady. Immediately after posting the comment—which has seen been deleted, natch—the Facebook event page pretty much blew up with users mocking this chick, who apparently views herself as a modern-day Mother Nature with a direct line to the sun.
Hilarious!
Look, on the one hand, I totally get it—it's so annoying when someone plans a party and you have a conflict in schedule and your kids can't go. And chances are, the mom thought the event she was responding to was simply a viewing party, and not the actual eclipse itself.
But on the other hand, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event that has been continuously hyped by the media over the last few weeks, so she should probably already know that it will take place on the 21st. Many southern schools have even canceled classes that day or are planning to incorporate the solar eclipse into their curriculum via viewing parties like the one planned by the museum.

Still, at the end of the day, she's just a mom who made an innocent mistake while trying to do right by her kids. None of us are perfect. So while the takedown has been fun, let's all cut her some slack now, OK?
